Sorry about your sofa being discontinued. I have heard of bemz and contemplated ordering slipcovers for my EKTORP sofas but like you said, it's quite costly!

There are some companies online that will sew slipcovers - potatoskins.com is one - but it's quite costly too. Sewing a slipcover is quite difficult I would think with all the nooks and crannies you have to worry about.

Sorry I'm of no help but just wanted to say I'm an IKEA addict too!Cherylhttp://mommyquitherjob.canoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1163544832098085038.post-73786117812359987912010-03-25T09:55:55.752-04:002010-03-25T09:55:55.752-04:00Good to know I'm not alone on this journey! I actually haven't used it in years because I don't know what to start labelling.

Oh ok. This makes sense now. We include health and beauty and cleaning products in here although even then we don't buy those things weekly.

Wow. I need to shop at Sobeys more! There is one near us but I always thought people were paying a premium for stores that were open 24/7. Maybe I should look at their flyers more closely.

That's some good advice. Making a list of what is in the pantry. I never know and I rarely look in there becuase it's super messy and makes me have a headache just thinking about cleaning it. HA. One day I will do it!Cherylhttp://mommyquitherjob.canoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1163544832098085038.post-31472043015705597532010-03-12T10:25:38.642-05:002010-03-12T10:25:38.642-05:00You have a label maker? I want one but I think I would drive my husband nuts labeling everything, LOL!

$90.00/week is strictly food and things like baby wipes & training pants (Health & Beauty products and Cleaning products not included in this budget.)I've stocked up on these items to last me for at least a year if not longer.

Typically I am buying perishables and stocking up on everything else I need on sale. For example, Sobey's regularly has sales on roasts about $5.00 or $6.00 each so I will buy $30.00 worth of roasts and freeze them. I have 2 pantries that hold all my "food stockpile" and I post lists on the doors so I know when we are running low so I keep an eye for sales.Monicahttp://www.thishousewifeslife.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1163544832098085038.post-87479889729518104502010-03-11T17:36:44.436-05:002010-03-11T17:36:44.436-05:00Thanks for sharing your system. Oh man.... your getting the Martha Stewart tendancies to come out over here ;) Now where's my label maker?

And I'm blown away by your weekly grocery budget. We budget about $100 a week for 2 adults and 1 toddler. We don't max out all the time but I'm sure we could reduce it a bit.Cherylhttp://mommyquitherjob.canoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1163544832098085038.post-22511894472220307892010-03-11T10:18:01.653-05:002010-03-11T10:18:01.653-05:00Wow! How amazing would that be if we could all live in peace and harmony. I bet that most diseases would be cured as the we would all be working towards one goal - to improve everyone's life so overall life expectancy would increase. Just think of how profitable the health care industry is today, do these top guys really want to find a cure for things like cancer? Heck, no because then they wouldn't profit. Why don't they try to fix other social issues like homelessness - because there is no money to be made! Anyway, thanks for the video link, I loved it!Julienoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1163544832098085038.post-14227188600501179912010-03-10T11:10:50.683-05:002010-03-10T11:10:50.683-05:00Actually the debt was at it's highest ($44,500...Actually the debt was at it's highest ($44,500) at the May of 2008. I wish it was that easy to pay that much off in 3 months!!! Basically the debt was a combination of student loans, home repairs, remaining car loans and gobs of stupid purchases. We really cracked down when I decided to quit my job and be a stay-at-home mom in 2008. We did really well but last year we added another $10,000 to do upgrades (like a new furnace, electric upgrade, installing a pool that was given to us by my parents) to take advantage of the government tax breaks and grants. We are anticipating $4000-$5000 back from the programs but that's a few months away. From here on out we are on our way to debt-freedom!Monicahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17690792152250766004noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1163544832098085038.post-57108322204973580112010-03-09T15:01:41.324-05:002010-03-09T15:01:41.324-05:00I am amazed and impressed at how you've paid d...I am amazed and impressed at how you've paid down so much debt in the first three months of 2010.
